The entry of the Getty View Residence reveals three levels of stacked volumes that are individually identified by their unique exterior material – smooth white stucco, aluminum façade, and board form concrete. The various textures add architectural interest by emphasizing the layered forms, which sit comfortably in the surrounding hillside landscape. Much of the structure is encased in an operable aluminum louver facade that balances privacy with an indoor/outdoor openness. This concept is further embraced with large scale sliding doors that fully open the interior of the home onto the pool deck. The landscape design plays an integral role throughout the property, with edible gardens and an outdoor living and dining area as punctuating highlights.

The architects chose a board form concrete for its earthy tactility and its structural qualities.
