HOLLYWOOD HILLS RESIDENCE
LOS ANGELES

PROJECT CREDITS

Architect: Chu + Gooding

PhotographER: Richard Powers

Film: Nils Timm

This ground up structure was built for a photographer and collector of period art. In searching for an existing home that would hold his collection, he instead opted to purchase a hillside property and worked with the architects to craft a custom space that would fit his needs.

The design presented a challenge to merge the potentially incompatible program of an intimate home and a formal museum. Classic detailing mixed with contemporary materials create a space that compliments the collection of sculptural objects and art pieces. The bold spaces flow easily between indoors and out and radiate a sense of old Hollywood glamour.

“Using the owner’s formative years in Italy as inspiration guided the meticulous detailing that produced a refined yet dramatic house museum for art and objects.”
